Basic Information

There are three different types of email services you can order:

Shell + Email Account
This account provides a completely separate email box with a unique user name and password.  It also comes with one shell account on our system which gives you access to many Linux programs including pine, which lets you read your email from any Internet connected computer. PatriotNet supports the most common protocols for retrieving email, including IMAP and POP. For added convenience, you may read your PatriotNet email via our Web interface.

Most PatriotNet services (dial-up, DSL, etc.) include one Shell + Email account, and these accounts may be purchased separately as well.

Additional Email Box
This also provides a separate email account with a unique user name and password, but does not provide access to a shell account. Available only as an add-on service for customers who have other PatriotNet services.

Email Alias
This does not provide a unique user name and password; instead it "links" a new email address up to an existing email account. When someone sends mail to this email alias, the message will go directly into the email box of the account to which the alias is linked.
